I am currently transcribing vintage Schwinn catalogs for this website and as I do so, I have noticed that Schwinn catalogs are like a time capsule of fashion.
These catalogs came out every year, and as such have become a year by year exhibition of what people were wearing.
It is hard not to smile when you see some of the old fashions in the pages of these vintage catalogs.
Especially from the 1960s and the 1970s…
So let us boldly go through some of the history of Schwinn bicycles and what women wore on Schwinns.
Let’s start with 1964…
Ohh 1964, take me away like Calgon…

Hehe, gotta love girls on Schwinns. It’s two of my favorite things! Nice post Pat, and it’s a very informative site. I never realized that their models had the latest fashions on too. I was always busy checking out the bikes.
I’m enjoying the time trip in fashion. Everyone was so clean cut then, of course that was the Schwinn imagine. I just took delivery on a ’67 Collegiate DeLuxe- Campus Green, all complete with the WW tires, pump, generator and lights only thing missing is the rear bag for the seat. Found one on e-bay- torn. I’m looking forward to restoring it. Already did a 67 Coppertone Collegiate it is a beauty- love the color. Bought as a basket case- $25.00. Now fully restored and correct. I always smile when I ride my Schwinn. John
