1955 Schwinn Catalog Now Online

I am trying to get all the Schwinn catalogs online from 1899 to 2010.

It is quite a project and I am looking for volunteers to type up these catalogs from scans (so far I have typed up several of these catalogs and as a two finger typer, it is rough going).

I am also seeking those who know how to use a blog.

If you can help with either typing or blogging, please contact me.

Today I am pleased to say the 1955 Schwinn Bicycle Catalog is up live on the site.

I look forward to getting more catalogs online soon.

By getting these catalogs online we are not only preserving Schwinn history, but we also make the wealth of text in these catalogs searchable and more easily accessed by those who need it.

Schwinn Tanks

Schwinn bikes had tanks sometimes and these tank are really a beautiful touch that give many models there distinctive look.

There were several different tanks made by Schwinn but today we are going to talk about the Slimline tank.

The Journey Begins…

Hi, my name is Pat and I am going to spend the upcoming months documenting Schwinn bikes and accessories.

This website will be unique among Schwinn resources as it will have model by model, year by year, descriptions of Schwinn bikes.

To see an example of what I am going for see the 1967 Schwinn Panther page which has many of the elements of what I consider to be a useful and complete description page.

I have received a few items (seats and slimline tanks mostly) and I have begun to photograph them. I have also bought several old Schwinn books and catalogs, which I will be scanning and using as references for bike model pages.

I have just begun using Ebay to get the parts and as I said, they are starting to come in. I look forward to reaching out to Schwinn enthusiasts and collectors to get more accurate data and more complete pages.

I am also doing quick video to explain the goals of this website as well. Basically I want to document Schwinn bikes and accessories and do it in a pleasant and useful way that benefits the Schwinn community.
